WHAT THE ANIMALS HAVE TO SAY
Lyrics and music by Winston Apple
I ran into a dog just the other day and this is what he had to say
He said, "Woof. Woof, woof. Arf, arf, arf."
He said, "Woof. Woof, woof. Arf, arf, arf."
Well, I didn't really know what to make of that
So I kept on walking 'til I ran into a cat
I told her what the dog said ("Woof. Arf."
And I asked that cat, "What do you make of that?"
She said, "Meow. Meow, meow. Meow, meow, meow."
She said, "Meow. Meow, meow. Meow, meow, meow."
Of course, dogs and cats have been known to disagree
Dogs and cats see things differently
And none of what either one of them had said
Was making much sense to me
So I decided to head out to a farm, but not just any farm
If you're wondering what the animals have to say
When they're hanging around the barn
Go to Old McDonald's farm
Old McDonald has a farm, E I O U A
And I went walking around his farm to hear what the animals had to say
This is what I heard:
The pig said, "Oink."
The cow said, "Moo."
The duck said, "Quack."
And the goose did, too
The sheep said, "Baa."
The chicken said, "Baack."
I have no idea what to make of that
The rooster crowed at the break of day
I think you know what he had to say ("Cock-a-doodle-doo.")
I saw a horse in the barnyard, munching on hay
I listened closely and she said, "Neigh."
There's not much else a horse can say
Unless, of course, the horse is a horse who can talk like Mr. Ed
("Hello. I'm Mr. Ed.")
Now I've been thinking about what each of the animals has to say
We've all got a song to sing in our own special way
We are all a part of nature's sweet and wondrous song
We can all sing a different part and still sing along
Sing it with me now -
[Animal sounds all mixed together]
Oh, and by the way, just the other day
I ran into a snake
He said to tell you thissss, "Hissssssssssssss."
